JO + MIKE | Mountain Elopement in Washington & Reception at the Joinery

Joanna and Mike inquired wanting to go on an adventure and simply asked me for suggestions. I immediately thought of the Pacific Northwest, and we ran with it.

Joanna performed an amazing little song for Mike on her ukulele and it was the sweetest thing ever.

One of my absolute favorite sequences from this entire day. Jo’s dad is equally one of the funniest people I’ve ever photographed at a wedding and the sweetest. Look at his reaction to seeing her for the first time in her wedding gown!

Jo and Mike asked me if I knew of anyone that could officiate the ceremony up near Seattle. My mind immediately went to one of my favorite wedding photographers and first inspirations, Benj Haisch. I knew he had experience officiating before, so it was pretty surreal to have him there, along for the journey. 🙂

So many happy tears.

Benj showed us the exclusive secret shortcut to this waterfall, and it was unbelievably epic.

The next day, we all shared dinner together a Oddfellows in Seattle, and it was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had hanging with my clients’ families. So freaking sweet!

And once all of the adventure ended, we came back to Chicago shortly after and celebrated Joanna and Mike’s marriage with more family and friends at one of my favorite Chicago venues, The Joinery.

All the happy tears all over again.

Jo and Mike, thank you so much for trusting me with your vision, adventure, and beginning of your marriage. It was such an honor and blessing to capture all of this for you two!! Much love!!

We also filmed this elopement, so if you’d like to see that, check it out here:
